TRAVEL - Kg. Budaya Kuching

35 KM from Kuching near with legendary Mount Santubong is one of places that we must go when visit to Kuching. rom Kuching, the journey takes about 45 minutes through the spectacular peninsula of Santubong at which Damai seaside resorts are located. Kg. Budaya Sarawak is a living museum that unite whole culture in Sarawak. Kg. Budaya also is venue for the Rainforest World Music Festival, an internationally renowned festival that join together all musician in the world.

Here, it is possible to see Sarawak's ethnic diversity at a glance. The handicraft is both bewildering and tempting, including the Kain Songket (Malay cloth with gold inlay), Pua Kumbu (Iban housewives textiles), Melanau Terendak (sunhat), Bidayuh tambok (basket), Iban parang (swords), Orang Ulu wood carving and Chinese ceramics. The 45-minute cultural performance of songs, dances and entertainment is something you will not want to miss during your visit to Sarawak.

I was attracted when I first come here because there a lot of traditional house combine all culture at Sarawak and make it in one live museum. Its my first time I've been there with my wife (not married yet that time) and we have spend RM 75 to enter the Kg. Budaya. I drive a car and it take about 45 minutes from my mother-in-law's house.

Traditional houses includes Iban, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Penan, Dayak, Malay, and Chinese. All the houses is built based on the size and the actual house Sarawak traditional society. Similarly, his clothes, and all social activities there is also been seen such as how to make traditional cake, making sago, the Penan community musical instruments, and equipment to harvest rice. Me and my wife could have time to pose and dress in traditional societies there.
Although it is quite tiring to spend the whole area of Kg. Culture, but I was very excited and entertained. We spent a lot of time taking pictures and see the traditional performance made possible by the workers there. The majority of the workers there are real people in Sarawak natives. Sarawak State Government has taken the initiative to make the Kg. Sarawak Cultural Museum which makes us a true taste of the life of the indigenous peoples of Sarawak.

I am very proud of what we have in Sarawak because of so many cultures in Malaysia are not available in any country. Every society with different traditions and languages to make each of them unique. That is Malaysia.
